Appreciate God's Grace Always

Have you ever felt like everything looks easy to achieve until it gets to your turn and then it becomes difficult? Almost like, it’s always been so easy for other people and when it gets to your turn, it’s your turn, the process is the same just some things didn’t favor you. Have I been there? Countless times and I know everything is working for my good. To share one of my experiences, one time I applied for an international job and was granted a zoom interview which made me happy but a week later I received an email telling me I won’t continue with the company. I was shattered because I badly wanted that job but that was my reality. I asked myself so many questions, wondering about what went wrong unsuccessfully. For context that was the first interview that I will say didn’t go well of which it was one that I had prayed and fasted to get. Ironical! During one of those days when I was sad and feeling low, I got an impression in my inner man that everything I have ever received thus far was by grace not my works. I am reminded of Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV) “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.” Even though this verse is related to salvation, it hit me because I was secretly counting on my qualification to get me the job. But wait, James 1:17 tells me that every good and perfect gift comes from above, from the Father of Lights. And to add 2 Corinthians 12:9 says “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” That is God speaking to us. Some of us trust in our “chariots and horses” which could be our certificates, experience, beauty and more to merit what we desire (Psalm 20:7). No offence but believe me when I say, there are truly situations where merit is not important, but grace. Think of job interviews with hundreds of candidates applying with better qualifications and you get to be chosen; it’s clearly god at work. Sometimes we are tempted to believe that we got some things because we prayed but do you know some people have better who never prayed? Brethren in Christ be encouraged and above all reminded that everything you have and will ever have was given to you by God whose gifts are irrevocable. God has blessed us mightily and the least we can do is be grateful and not take these blessings for granted. The blessing may seem small or almost insignificant in our eyes but it’s by grace that we have it all. Preservation, security, blessings and so much more are all gifts bestowed on us by grace and I so let’s be grateful. Remember the good things God has done; even some of the things you couldn’t get which broke your heart, sometimes blessings look like disappointment but bear in mind that all things are working for your good. Have a blessed week!
