I
was recently reading the Book of Ephesians lately and was marked by this phrase
“accepted into the Beloved” in chapter 1 verse 6. I’ve been pondering on this
phrase, longing to have an understanding of what it means to be accepted in the
Beloved. The ‘Beloved’ here is referring to Jesus Christ who is our Lord and
Savior, the Messiah. And on to the big question, what does it mean to be
accepted in Him. Ephesians 1:6 KJV “to the praise of the glory of his grace,
wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved,” The way God made man, man is
always asking questions like ‘who am I’, whose am I, where am I going, and why
am I here? We ask these questions at different times in our life. All these
questions mostly show up when we’re faced with identity issues. Amazingly; to
answer some of these questions, we need to remember that we cannot know who we
are until we know we belong to none other than the One true living God.
Most
of the affairs of our lives as individuals revolve around acceptance. Yes, no
one ever desires to be rejected. Everyone wants to be accepted, everyone wants
to have an identity, security and a purpose. The Father’s acceptance of you is
true which consists of one of the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
While you were yet a sinner Christ died for you and as you. He became
everything you are and will ever be and died in your place. In His resurrection
He made you what He is Himself. Jesus died in your place and made God your
Father. God being your Father has redefined your life. He accepts you and I
just as we are, He knows everything about you and I and still chooses to love
us unconditionally.
“When
you rest in the Father’s unconditional acceptance, you have freeness of speech.
The confidence of resting in the Father’s love is such that where He is to
judge you, you will have boldness and freeness of speech (1 John 4:17). When
you abide in the Father’s love for you, you have the same boldness that Jesus
has before the Father because as He is, so are you in this world. When you
abide in His love, you abide in God and God abides in you. Rest in the
assurance of the unconditional acceptance and personal love the Father has for
you. Get rid of the rejection and the mistaken identity that says ‘I am not’.
Get rid of the insecurity that wonder about what is going to happen to you. Get
rid of the confusion that would accept any substitute as purpose. You have been
accepted in Beloved”. Dr. Shawn Smith. Because you and I are accepted in
the Beloved, were secure in Him. We have a purpose which is in Christ, He chose
us, He called us and predestined us in Himself. This is my conviction; I’m
accepted in the Beloved.
You’re
blessed in Christ!
