I’m reading the Book of
1Timothy this morning and I’m grateful because it’s very rich. There is so much
I will like to write on but I have chosen to minister from 1Timothy 1:15-16
TNIV “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus
came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst. But for me, the
worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example
for those who would believe in Him and receive eternal life”. The Spirit of God
is ministering something so deep from these verses and I pray He grants us an
understanding of the mind of Christ to us. Jesus Christ came because mankind
needed a Savior; we were living in a mistaken identity called ‘sin’ which led
us into different works of the flesh. We believed we were far away from God (it
was in our minds because of what we called sin Ephesians 2:12) believing we
needed to do one thing or another to get to Him. Death was working in us but
Jesus came and made us alive in Him; He transferred us from the Kingdom of
darkness unto the kingdom of His Beloved Son (1 Corinthians 15:45, Colossians
1:13). Always remember that it is Christ at work in us both to will and to do
His good purpose (Philippians 2:13).
It’s tempting to believe
that we cannot fail or be weak in the face of challenges even as believers in
Christ. Even when it involves the works of the flesh; it’s possible. You may
have said the wrong thing, cheated when you were assigned a financial role; you
were selfish when someone badly needed your help etc. When this happens, you
beat yourself, lament, cry and even hate yourself. In Christ we’re perfect and
complete based on the finished work of Christ in our place (Colossians 2:10).
But one thing is we’re in the body that hosts the spirit and the soul which
sometimes falls into temptation and this doesn’t happen to kill you but to
bring to your consciousness that His strength is made perfect in weakness ( 2
Corinthians 12:9), Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and in Him you
have the ability to overcome. Your life as a believer is not determined by your
performance nor your ability to be perfect but the Grace of God and His life in
you. Your failures, mistakes and challenges do not define your worth; Christ
alone determines your worth because He stood in your place and died your death.
Sometimes we remain captive to something we’ve done, holding on to guilt,
anger, fear, rejection which hinders us from receiving the boundless and
unconditional love of God our Father. Father God does not condemn you then why
do you condemn yourself? (Romans 8:1). In Christ we have redemption through His
blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace (Ephesians
1:7). Whenever you find yourself in any situation where your heart condemns you
speak forth what God believes about you and His love will comfort you.
Brethren in Christ, Jesus
Christ chose you to be the raw material for another person to come to the
knowledge of Christ. Do not hate yourself because of your weaknesses because it
also opens your eyes to see the stupendous grace of God that is multiplied in
your life. Learn to see your weaknesses as an operation of God for by so doing,
His power will establish you in His unfailing love. Rejoice in your weaknesses
for in them you see the extent to which God our loving Father loves and is
patient. Be encouraged to keep your mind on Christ giving heed to the things
that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report (Philippians
4:8-9), meditating on the things that are eternal that you may continue to
experience the peace of Christ. Some years ago, when I read 1 Timothy 15-16
which is our verse of the day, I wrote this down “This is a trustworthy saying that deserves
full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save me (wrote my names) a
big sinner- from this fear, insecurity, unworthiness and bitterness. But for
this reason, I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth
all longsuffering/patience for a pattern to all those who will believe in
Christ and receive salvation.” You are an honorable vessel, keep
your eyes on Christ and your weaknesses will go deem because He will be all you
see. He is your life remember (Colossians 3:3-4). Father God is so faithful
that His plan for your life is perfect even in your imperfections, His plans
remains perfect.
