It's December and this is a season which is
characterized by gifts-giving. In all we do, we're seeking to show those we
care about how much we love them by offering them something beautiful. What
really matters is not only the gift but the heart with which you give the gift.
The first thing about your heart is "you want them to know how much you
care". You are not wrong, our Heavenly Father is the perfect giver. In His
perfect generousity, He gave us His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ; a perfect
gift for all time. The Man of God, His excellency Dr. Shawn Smith has this
wonderful explanation to give regarding John 3:16, "The phrase 'God so
loved the world' reveals the intensity with which God loves and affectionately
cares for the human race.. The love of our Father is at the same time universal
and particular, all-inclusive and personal. He includes everyone in His love
and excludes no one. In thislight, what does the phrase "believeth in
Him" here refer to in connection to believing in Jesus? ...It is believing
that the Father so loved you that He included you in the unbroken fellowship
that He has with His Son Jesus Christ. When you believe this, that the Father
has unconditionally loved you and has included you in the living communion He
shares with His Son, you will experience the imperishable Life". God has
reconciled us to Himself in the saving work of His Son, thus ending His wrath
through reconciliation (Romans 5:1). We did nothing to obtain salvation, it was
God's gift to us. Christ assumed the cost of this sacrificial love for us and
made us perfectly fit to receive it freely (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 5:16).
The gift of salvation in Christ Jesus our
Savior is extremely free and perfect; God was motivated by perfect kindness
where He treats with us as if He was treating with Himself. It's important to know
that the calibre of the gift reflects the giver; this gift of Jesus Christ to
us and as us extremely free and will always be. Salvation being free doesn't
mean it's cheap; it simply means it's priceless. You cannot earn it, neither
can you work it. It cannot be merited by human performance it is by grace
through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 5:15, John 4:10, Acts 8: 17-20).
In Christ we have received so many gifts; salvation, Eternal life, the gift of
speaking in tongues, our oneness with Christ and more. All these gifts are
irrevocable and originate from God. Thanks to the Holy Spirit who has come to
bring us to the experience of all that is ours in Christ and all He died for.
He also gives us assurance of all these things. God is so good, because all of
these are gifts.
You're Blessed!
