CONSECRATE YOURSELF TO GOD DAILY

Some days ago, while reading Dr John G Lake's book Living in the Power of God, I realized that at the end he wrote a prayer of consecration wholly submitting himself to God for his noble purposes.  This brought me back to a program that was organized in our church at the beginning of this year on missions. I believe I’ve mentioned before that every saint is a minister and so nobody is excluded from the work of ministry. We are all co-laborers together with Christ in the Ministry of Reconciliation which is making the Gospel known to all men. On the last day of the program, the saints of God had a special time of prayer for the church and the nations of the world. It was a wonderful time because the Holy Spirit revealed some nations to us to pray for and declaring the victory of the Gospel reaching these nations. It was a time of consecration for the work of God in this church age which is an honorable mission. It's so easy to live everyday wanting to live for God and yet not being able to do anything for Him. It's no secret that serving God whole-heartedly is a choice and requires a lot of commitment and so on a daily basis we should consecrate ourselves to God in prayer, to do something to make the Gospel known. Consecration can be defined as an attitude of yourself that you no longer consider your life as dear to you but you lay it down for the noble purposes of God. Take special note that the Father has consecrated us through our union with Christ and Jesus Christ is our consecrating high Priest.
We are mid way into this year and i must say God has been awesome despite the many challenges we may have faced so far. But i came to understand that going about your day conscious of Christ living in you and you in Him is important. Honoring God with your life is a quality choice and it needs to done at every given moment. When I wake up every day the first thing I do is consecrate myself to God in Prayer to be used for His noble purposes in each day. No matter what I face, I am conscious that Christ has to be glorified in my life. I will like to encourage each one of us to consecrate ourselves daily to God for the work of Ministry.  The Apostle Paul wrote to his son in Christ Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:5 "I remember your sincere and unqualified faith [the surrendering of your entire self to God in Christ with confident trust in His power, wisdom and goodness, a faith] which first lived in [the heart of] your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am confident that it is in you as well." It's important to be submitted to the Holy Spirit on a daily basis, for there will always be many opportunities to minister the Gospel to someone. I came up with this prayer of consecration that we might meditate on and praying as we consecrate ourselves to God with lifted hands in reverence for His noble purposes. (You are free to add your words as you are led by the Holy Spirit). I am convinced there is so much God wants to his church today and that requires our total commitment.

                                                             Prayer of Consecration
Eternal Father, we thank You for the privilege to be called your sons in Christ. Thank you for including us in the shared life of the Godhead and for making us ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this church age. Thank You for our all inclusive Salvation in Christ Jesus and ministers of the Gospel, we submit ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel without comingling. We thank You Father for Your sent ministers of the Gospel through whom we learn Christ. We will preach nothing short of the Gospel our Risen Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ revealed to the Apostle Paul after His resurrection. We recognize that we have been apprended before the foundation of the world for this noble purpose. We are One with Christ, we are His flesh and blood on earth and we will communicate His mind expressed through us to the Glory of God the Father. We will minister with joy and not out of obligation or fear but by the love of God shed abroad in our hearts. We will devote our time, resources and talents to that which we are called to in ministry. We will be bold and unashamed but we'll ourselves as we make the Gospel known everywhere we go. As sons foreordained and by endorsed by You Father God to partake of your plans, purses and intents, we submit ourselves to diligent study, prayer and thanksgiving keeping our focus on your purpose for our lives and to avail ourselves for Your work. Abba Father!!!
