Some months
ago, I read the story of a brother who went to Bible school and as much as he
desired to be part of to be part of the praise and worship team in his new
school, God told him it wasn’t time yet. During his third and final year in Bible
school, God told him it was time to be a part of the praise and worship team.
Someone else may ask God questions like, it’s my final year and it’s obvious I am
graduating soon and so what use will it be to join the team? But this brother
obeyed and today, he is among the great men who write and sing New Testament worship
songs. This ministered greatly to me when I read this story ,it made
me understand that it’s God’s desire to reveal Himself to us but we also need
to avail ourselves to Him (Ephesians 3:8-10, Colossians 1:26-27). I often tell
myself that there is a place to be taught; yes, God wants to teach us so much. God
by His supernatural ability and power brought us the knowledge of Christ, let
Him in His might lead us as we learn Christ. There are certain things that
you must be prepared for adequatel and being a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is one of them. Once
apprehended by God, you belong to Him and though He will not force you, you will minister to someone on His behalf. During this time of
learning Christ, we may think we’re alone and the odds are against us in some
way but the truth is that everything is working together for our good in every
single way (Romans 8:28). There are countless virtues God is building in you
and thus we have to be keen to obey first His instructions. There is so much
power in obeying God and when you do He opens a way you thought was blocked to
move forward in His assignment.
Sometimes,
we have been tempted to run ahead of God thinking we can do better and end up
miserable. No matter how much you think you know God, you can never know Him
enough and if you’re satisfied with the knowledge you have of God now, then you’re
desensitized from Him. God reveals Himself at every second of our lives in many
unimaginable ways. When God gives you an instruction, ask Him what you should
do and even if you don’t get an immediate reply, praying by acknowledging what
you have received as instruction. Discern yourself in what He has told you to
do and gradually you will have a clear picture of what is expected of you by Him.
It’s also very important to seek counsel from God before you take any major
decision in your life, and no matter how long it will take before you get a
green light, God is still in control of His plan and so try not to lose focus. Timing
with God is very important; this is because as God is preparing you, He is also
preparing His set apart ones who will minister to you and who will confirm what
God had told you. While God is preparing to endorse you
to his sent ones, submit yourself to diligent study, prayer and meditation. Buy
books written by ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and more of their
teaching materials. God
can use anyone but He doesn’t use everyone. For God to use you, you must have
training” Dr Shawn Smith.
To
let God teach you will mean discarding some delusions and not trusting in your
ability when you approach Him. It’s important
to remember to let God endorse you to His sent ones and not you recommending
yourself to them. He will distinguish you by His grace because He called you
for His noble purpose. Let God define to you what He calls glory, Love, life, peace, faith, wealth joy
etc . The greatest privilege is for a man to let
God teach him, for therein lies your distinction amongst men.
Blessed in Christ!
