On the first of this month of December, I woke up from my sleep with the word 'Glossolalia' which in Greek speaks of an unknown language. I must apologize to you all because I didn't put it up as the first blog for this month. I believe the Father wants to reveal so much to us in this last month of the year and thus He wants us to train our spirits to His voice by constantly speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues is fellowship; it is communion with the Holy Spirit and it's a choice. It is supernatural and thus does not pass through your mind; it is a language that issues directly from your spirit. We all desire to move into the new year in grand style and we may not know how to discern the seasons. There is so much for us in this upcoming year 2017, I see so much rejoicing. We will rejoice in so many things and people the Father will bring our way. The Father will open so many doors for the preaching of the Gospel nationally and internationally. We will advance in His plans, purposes and pursuits. He is preparing us for a year that we will experience the manifestation of the beauty of His life in us. He is revealing His love to us in this new year in a wonderful way. He desires for us to spend time ministering to Him in the Holy Ghost. There are so many benefits of speaking in the Holy Ghost.
The first thing we should know about praying in tongues is that it builds us spiritually. It is a language of the Spirit and it was designed to build us up spiritually. To build up is to edify which is more like to charge up a battery, to stir and, or to set in motion. When we pray in tongues, we are supernaturally stirring the power of God that is in our spirits by setting our spirits in motion towards the things of God. Your spirit becomes sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and you become able to perceive and access the invisible realities of the kingdom. The more we speak in tongues, the more we will experience the rest of God and His establishment in our lives; we simple need to believe it. When we pray in tongues, it builds up our faith in Christ. It's no secret that the things of God can only be revealed by the Spirit. Our canal minds cannot access the things of God because they will sound like foolishness to us ( 1 Corinthians 2:11-16). The more we pray in tongues, the more our faith is lifted up, we are perceiving the things we study in the Word of God as true as they are. We become conscious of our identity in Christ (Jude 20:20).
In 1 Corinthians 14:14-15, the Apostle Paul makes us to understand that speaking in tongues is superior to speaking in our understanding. Each time we want to start praying, we should start praying in tongues. That way the Spirit will reveal to us what we should say in our understanding. I sing in tongues on many days after a while I sing that song in English and I just glorify God for the revelation of the song. I will also encourage that when you pray in Tongues, take note of the words and images the Holy Spirit brings to your mind and copy them in your notebook. Three years ago, while i was praying in tongues the Holy Spirit brought the picture of a family facing divorce problems and as i went on praying they were reconciled. Let it be a daily practice; pray in tongues at the least chance you have and God will reveal to your innerman glimpses of the path He is leading you as you trust in His leadership. As you pray in tongues the mind of Christ will be revealed in and to you.
