ARE YOU A SON OR A SERVANT?

I was reading a story of a young man who gave his all for the growth of his father’s company which is in other words the family’s main source of income. He organized marketing campaigns, reshuffled memos to suit a lot of people involved and so much more. The passion with which he served struck me greatly. I started thinking on the work of God; how we make people hear this message of Christ, how much commitment and availability needs to be added to everything we do. I’ve come to understand that our level of commitment or willingness to serve is determined by our level of revelation of who we are in Christ. If the gospel is preached to you and all you can see is the fact that you’re a servant, you won’t be able to receive the wisdom and responsibility to spread the Gospel.  Servants no matter how free they feel they are, they will always be limited in one way or the other. And that’s why as a servant you won’t see yourself as one worthy to speak the mind of the Father or one worthy to represent the Father. You will have a mindset that limits you from receiving or even involving yourself in the spread of the message of Christ. You will always see yourself as one who is unworthy to receive the love of God as revealed in His Son Jesus Christ. Honestly, there will be countless ways that you will see yourself as unworthy and you won’t see need to serve or spread the Gospel. As a matter of fact, if you do it will be out of fear of punishment.
Being a son in Christ is a unique privilege we have received through our union with Christ. It has everything to do with our placement as sons in the Son Jesus Christ which we didn’t earn or worked for. Our identity as sons was foreordained by the Father from the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). We have been made beneficiaries of everything Jesus did from his incarnation as man, he was crucified, He died and after 3 days and 3 nights in the grave, He was raised from the dead still as man. As sons in Christ we first of all need to be conscious of who we are, whose we are and where we are. This way we won’t see ourselves as strangers but as those who have freely received the stupendous grace of God in Christ Jesus. Jesus is not ashamed to call us brethren and He has been made righteousness, wisdom, redemption, sanctification etc for us. Our sonship is as eternal as Christ Himself because He is the premium Son; the begotten of the Father who came from above, who was from the foundation of the world and who was the Word made flesh (John 1:1, 14).
Now that we know we are born of God and have been made sons in Christ (1 John 5:20, Galatians 4: 6-7) we are no longer to see ourselves as servants. As sons we are called to co-labor with Christ in the ministry of reconciliation which is making the Word of God known to all men. We are not servants but sons who serve. We live to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ known to the world, that they too may come to know that Jesus died for all of mankind; nobody was excluded from His death. His death was an all-inclusive death. He saved us all from sin and death and He has become our one and only life. Sons don’t work for fame or pay, they work because they know they belong to the Father. We share this gospel so that many people can come to knowledge of the freedom and life they have received in Christ Jesus by trusting Him as Lord of their lives. With this revelation we’ll not preach the Gospel out of fear of ‘God’s wrath’ but out of love and freedom; celebrating the beauty of His Grace toward us. Christ in us is our strength to do the will of the Father which is bringing all men to the knowledge of His love revealed in His Son Jesus Christ.

You're Blessed!!!
