THE OLD IS GONE

As believers in Christ, our greatest battle is found in disentangling ourselves from the past and the present, the old from the new. From time to time we find ourselves leaving the mindset of our old crucified, died and buried self. The good news here is that the new has come and we are no longer part of the old. Jesus Christ by identifying with us as human was to take away everything that was to cause pain, sickness, rejection, poverty, shame, etc. He became all these and more in order to bring us to a place of peace, love, assurance, and grace in Himself.  2 Corinthians 5:17 Amplified Bible puts it in a better way,"Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]" .Here the apostle Paul tells us that the old is passed away and behold everything has become new in Christ Jesus alone; we are new creatures which means, it has never existed before. There is something i love about this verse; the tense used here is the present tense 'IS', implying that it will always be a present day reality. Think for a moment the century the Apostle Paul wrote this epistle to the church at Corinth and think of our century today, but is has always been in the present tense. God is awesome! Don’t think for once that the challenges of life will cease, nope, but our response to them should be from a stand point of acknowledging that everything Jesus did was with us, as us and for us.

That time when you felt rejected is over, you are a new creature altogether in Christ and He has brought you to a place of acceptance in Himself. God the Father is now your Father and He has accepted you in to His beloved. Tell that pain you feel in your body that you are indwelt by Christ and your body is His and His body is perfect, so is your body too. You are safe, secure and preserved as whole in Him. Look at that thing that makes you afraid and tell yourself that you are born of God, you have been made co-heirs with Christ, and you have a right to everything that has been freely given to you in Christ. You will not live in want because God has provided your every need (spirit, soul and body). Fear has no place in your life any more. The appointment you had with anything negative has been reversed by the person and saving works of Jesus Christ. Your life is not defined by what defines the world but by Christ. You stand unmoved because you know that you are deeply loved by the Eternal God of love in His Son Jesus Christ. Christ in you is wealth, health, favor, prosperity, acceptance, peace, joy, life etc and all these, the world cannot give you. In Christ, you are a new spiritual species who has never exited before. God calls you blessed because you are blessed forever. He calls you righteous, redeemed, sanctified, adopted, and reconciled to Him in Christ; you are justified by faith in Him alone. This is our new reality, our new world and we refuse to go back to the old because it’s not where we belong. Jesus Christ won the victory with us, as us and for us and we are firm on this reality.
