HUMBLED BY THE WORD OF GOD

Many of us today fall in the trap of believing that humility is an act than an attitude of the heart. When someone talks softly and slowly, we define them as humble but it’s actually a state of the heart. When I talk of the heart, I don’t mean the physical heart; what I mean is the state of the mind.  Don’t think the reason why I’m talking about why someone wants to put up an act is my concern. Nope! Humility comes through the knowledge we have of Jesus Christ; His person and finished works. The more you see yourself in Him the more you understand you cannot compete with another brethren because you are both unique in Him; distinguished in every way by the Grace of God. I will explain how humility is defined in Christ alone.
Our placement/position in Christ as sons: When Jesus was made incarnate as man, He was the substitute for mankind. He was the God-man; truly God and truly man in Himself (Hebrews 2:16). With humanity in Him, He was crucified, He died, was buried and after three days He rose from the dead, still with mankind in Him and as Him, thus making us new creatures in Himself (2 Corinthians 5:17). He ascended on High and is seated at the right hand of the Father with us and as us. We are seated with Christ in the heavenly realm. In Him we derived a new origin, and we have now been born of God (1 Corinthians 15:45). He has become our Father and we are His sons through Christ and we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who cries Abba Father bearing witness with our spirits that we are sons of God (Romans 8:14-15). We are called sons of God because our unique origin which stems directly from the Father in Christ Jesus has become our unique identity. All that we are and will ever be is in Christ, He is our life(Colossians 3:3-4); He has made us worthy, holy, righteous, blessed, happy, peaceful etc in Himself. We did nothing to be all that we are in Him and nothing is required of us to complete anything because He finished His work and made us beneficiaries of it all. We don’t need to work to earn the love of God because He purposed in himself that we should share in His life through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:3-10, Colossians 2:9-10). What assures us of our safety, security and preservation is because we are found in our Eternal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we need to live daily, seeing ourselves in Him (Galatians 2:20, Colossians 1:9-20). No matter our challenges in life our placement in Him stands forever.
Our possession of what is His: Because we are joint-heirs together with Christ, we are possessors of all that is His. Having been made beneficiaries of the finished works of Christ, we have been enriched with His righteousness, wisdom, knowledge, understanding etc (1 Corinthians 1:30, 1 Corinthians 2:16). Now having the mind of Christ, we can think His thoughts and speak His words for the growth and edification of the church; which is His Body. He is the creator of all things seen and unseen, big and small, and we have been endowed with industrious and creative ideas in Him. We have inner peace because we trust in our savior Jesus Christ and we know and are confident that He is able to succour us at all times. We are presented as blameless and sinless before the Father because we are in Christ and He sanctified us and made us His abode. Because our riches originate from an Eternal Source which is Jesus Christ, we’ll never lack;  He is Lord and reigns forever. We have been made partakers of the richest economy that exists from eternity, an economy that knows only abundance and excess. In this economy, we have been given all things abundantly in every sphere of life; health, life, wealth, assurance, redemption, peace, joy, love and because our location is in a person who is Christ Jesus (Acts 17:28, Colossians 3:3) we possess all that He possesses. The Grace is awesome!
Beloved in the Lord, the things we see cannot define us, we can never boast about class because we have become royalty in Jesus who is the king of Kings and Lord of Lords (Ephesians 1:20-22), you can not boast about race because in Christ we are the new creation; a unique race that has never existed before the resurrection of Christ. We are the perfect and most superior race ever in Christ; God never dwelt in any man before the coming of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 6:19, 2 Corinthians 6:16, 2 Timothy 1:14, Romans 8: 11, 1 john 2:27, Acts17:28 ). You cannot boast about riches; we have been made co-heirs together with Christ. Our riches go beyond material possession, it contains life and longevity in Christ (1 Corinthians 15: 40-57), Health (1 Peter 2:24), peace (John 14:27, 2 Thessalonians 3:16), Joy (Romans 14:17) etc. The Apostle Paul was a Roman citizen who had studied with great teachers of his day and was a man who could do and undo not only in his city but in other cities (Acts 22:25-28, Acts 9:1-2). Amidst his class, wealth, position and all, he considered them dung and garbage for the “Excellency” of the knowledge of Christ (Philippians 3:7-10) Man has nothing to boast about but the benefits of all that Jesus Christ accomplished for mankind. We can never maintain what we didn’t earn and so only Christ has the power to sustain our lives along with all the wonderful things He accomplished for us. We are blessed and privileged to belong to God in Christ (Acts 17:28, Romans 1:16-17).
You are Blessed!!!
