IN CHRIST ALONE

I recently stumbled on the news where Bill Cosby’s star is being taken off the ‘Walk of Fame’ because he was found guilty of sexual abuse. I asked these questions; was he awarded the star because of his private life? No! When he joined the movie industry, did he tell them he was a perfect human being? No! Did the industries that needed his talent care about his fears and insecurities? No, all they wanted was for him to portray the man in the script, which he did. Take note that I am not trying to support what Bill Cosby did because it is absolutely wrong to take someone’s freedom but one thing is certain, taking off the star doesn’t stop the fact that he shot his roles well; it won’t erase the movies he acted. He never told anybody that the roles he acted were his own life or character traits because there is always appearance which is different from reality. The point I want to bring out here is, talents don't give identity. Talents and gifts are from God and so, we shouldn't take them to define us. Your identity is found in Jesus Christ alone. Fame is short-lived and will fade away, class is just a title, race is just skin color, wealth is a state of mind but Jesus is all that you are. You have His life and He lives in you at every given second of your life (Galatians 2:20). Sometimes believers make the mistake of defining themselves by the gifts made manifest by the Holy Spirit through them. It is the Holy Spirit doing the Father’s will through you and so don’t boast. Remember, that it pleased the Father to place us in His Son Jesus, (Ephesians 1:3-9) and so in His Son, we have the live of His Son Jesus Christ. We have no life out of Jesus Christ because He is our live and in Him, we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). Where the Spirit of God is there is freedom. Identity confusion comes when you insist your life is separate from the life of Christ. On your own you can never live the life of Jesus, but let Him live His life in you and only then can you understand your true identity. Acknowledge at every moment of your life that you are not your own but you are who God says you are. You have been redeemed, sanctified, forgiven, justified by faith in Christ Jesus, you have been translated into the kingdom of His dear Son and you are no longer born of the will of man, nor of the flesh but of the Spirit. The greater One lives in you and as He is, so are we in this world (Romans 5:1, Hebrews 10:10, 1 Corinthians 6:11, John1:12-14, 1 John 4:4, 1 John 4:17, Romans 8).

You Are Blessed!!!
