Some days
ago while preparing for bed I started thinking (to myself) how awesome God is
and how much He loves us. He yearns for us to know how much He loves us. But why
are we so distant? Is it really about circumstances or is it because we don’t
know this same God? It’s either one of these two is correct or even both. Let’s take the
second, I believe we don’t know our God and that is why when the circumstances
of life come, we are swayed away believing it is His will. But how can we know
this God if we don’t have a time when we fellowship with Him through Bible study,
prayer and praise? How can we know Him if we are too focused on prophecies and
words of knowledge? How can we know Him if we think He’s distant and thus needs
to come and later go to His ‘Holy hiding’? How can we know this loving Father
if we don’t even know the Gospel? We, who have heard the Gospel need to submit
ourselves to be taught, we need to devote time to commune one on one with the
Father. Many people desire to hear this Gospel; they want to know that God
loves them and cares about their every need. They want to know that their pain
is His pain as well as their joy is His joy. These people are not in the
church, they are in different corners of this world, wishing that someday
someone will reach out to them with this Gospel of Grace. They are in our
neighborhoods, in our places of work and they are about everywhere wishing to
hear this Gospel. This is not about you because you will become afraid in some
way, I have been there. Some years ago, I was ashamed to identify with the
Gospel because a lot of people viewed it as a place where frustrated people go
and hide their frustrations. I love God yes, but I am not frustrated and so on
two occasions I lied so that my friends don’t get to know I went to church on
another day apart from our normal Sunday service. Now I see how blessed,
honored and privileged I am to belong to Jesus; an irrevocable position (Romans 1:16-17).
The love of
God is so overwhelming and at times I can’t help but cry why we weren’t taught
that from the on set of our lives. We are so valuable to God to the extent that
He had to become man in order to include us in to His divine life. There is no
greater love than this. In His mercy, He feels our pain and fills us. Our identity as sons of God puts us in a place where we face life and
its circumstances from a point of victory and not as victims. Knowing and
resting in the assurance of God’s love for us, overshadows any fear or trouble
that can ever come our way. At times we are pushing so hard to give credit to
ourselves meanwhile Jesus did everything and He has made us beneficiaries of
all that He accomplished. The righteousness of God has been made available to us in Christ Jesus. We have been justified by faith in Him, we have been sanctified, redeemed and adopted in Christ Jesus. We need to know that God values our presence more
than some things we do to impress Him. At times we think we can clean ourselves
before coming before Him, No, he wants us just as we are because Him alone
through Christ Jesus can change you.
Let’s not
say it’s the pastor’s responsibility to preach the Gospel. Every believer is a
saint and every saint a minister. See yourself as one ready to spread the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. Refuse to sit and listen and swallow up everything
without sharing. Be involved in telling someone about the endless unconditional
love of God revealed in Jesus Christ His Son (John 3:16, Romans 5:8-9). God is opening great
doors for the Gospel to reach many people in the world and He wants you and I
to be involved in this move. He desires to use us in many powerful ways. He
wants mankind to experience the beauty of His Grace and He wants us to be
involved in every way possible. Let us not lag behind and say we are not
called, no, we all are called to the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians
5:19). We are lagging behind because we think some other person is doing it and
so we don’t need to do anything. Remember we are not called to fulfill the same
service in the Body of Christ. You are exposed to a different crowd which is
different from another person’s scope of influence. Together we will preach
this Gospel and we have all that it takes to be fruitful and efficacious in the
spread of this Gospel. Wake up and tell yourself everyday ‘I WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL OF
JESUS CHRIST’.
You’re
Blessed!!!
