CELEBRATING GRACE

It’s December and we are now into making all preparations necessary for Christmas. In my childhood days I will spend time reciting memory verses (especially Mathew 2:1-3), singing carols and taking part in our little Jesus drama. My sisters and I would spend time making decorations for our Christmas tree. Christmas feels so good when you are actively participating in everything. During this period some time ago, I started pondering on why we celebrate Christmas and this is what I understood. Thousands of years ago, God had promised to send His Son to die for humanity and, some two thousand years ago that Son came, taking up man’s nature. He was fully God and fully man and He walked the earth as the Son of Man. He carried in Himself all of humanity; in His death, burial, resurrection, ascension and He is seated at the right hand of the Father with humanity. This was a season in time when God became man, that is, becoming all that we are that we might be like Him. That is what GRACE is! It is thanks to the birth of Jesus Christ as the son of Mary and Joseph that we can stand before the throne of Grace and obtain mercy. We are celebrating Christ in us! We celebrate because it is that birth that introduced us to the Grace, Love and Mercy of the Father. If Jesus wasn’t born in this dispensation of Grace, we wouldn’t have had all that we have now. We have the Holy Spirit in us teaching us all that we are and have in Christ Jesus. Luke 2:8-14: Amplified version

In the same region there were shepherds staying out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord flashed and shone around them, and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people.  For this day in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord (the Messiah). And this will be a sign for you [by which you will recognize Him]: you will find a Baby wrapped in [swaddling] cloths and lying in a manger.”Then suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host (angelic army) praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest [heaven],
And on earth peace among men with whom He is well-pleased.”
