It’s December and we are now into making all preparations necessary for Christmas. In my childhood days I will spend time
reciting memory verses (especially Mathew 2:1-3), singing carols and taking
part in our little Jesus drama. My sisters and I would spend time making decorations
for our Christmas tree. Christmas feels so good when you are actively
participating in everything. During this period some time ago, I started pondering
on why we celebrate Christmas and this is what I understood. Thousands of years
ago, God had promised to send His Son to die for humanity and, some two thousand
years ago that Son came, taking up man’s nature. He was fully God and fully man
and He walked the earth as the Son of Man. He carried in Himself all of
humanity; in His death, burial, resurrection, ascension and He is seated at the
right hand of the Father with humanity. This was a season in time when God
became man, that is, becoming all that we are that we might be like Him. That
is what GRACE is! It is thanks to the birth
of Jesus Christ as the son of Mary and Joseph that we can stand before the
throne of Grace and obtain mercy. We are celebrating Christ in us! We celebrate
because it is that birth that introduced us to the Grace, Love and Mercy of the
Father. If Jesus wasn’t born in this dispensation of Grace, we wouldn’t have
had all that we have now. We have the Holy Spirit in us teaching us all that we
are and have in Christ Jesus. Luke 2:8-14: Amplified version
“Glory to God in the highest [heaven],
And on earth peace among men with whom He is well-pleased.”
