I have heard stories of ladies who go from church to
church in search of a man to marry and vice-versa. It's absurd for me
because they have reduced God to a self-centered Father who wants you to
run around begging Him for just a man to share your life with. Someone
may say, that's not true but that is what it implies. The good news is
God has a godly man set aside for you and so if you have to marry by
God's design stop searching and let God do the search. I remember in
2011, God spoke to me making me to understand that rushing things won't do
me any good because He makes all things beautiful in His time. When a
woman says she is looking for a man to marry, sorry to say but it's
funny or better still weird because a godly man finds, he doesn't get
found. Some women sit on the pews in church and they are day dreaming of
the young man ministering infront of the church and all they want is
for him to become their husbands. Stop all that please!
A
godly man to me is a man wholly given to the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
acknowledging what God says about him as final and co-laboring with
Jesus in the ministry of reconcilliation. He seeks to bring glory to God
in all he does. He understands that his life is no longer his but it
belongs to the Jesus. His focus is on the work of God and bringing glory to His name. He is not looking for just any kind of woman. Do you
know why? If he's looking for cute; it's everywhere in the church, if
he's looking for sexy, we do have it in church too but he's looking for a
woman who fears God and that, only God can lead him to. A godly man is
looking for a woman who is not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16),
she is not bored by prayers, she's not one who frowns at the length of
the church service or doesn't want to sing in church because she might
ruin her lipstick. He's not looking for a woman who is all class and no
God or a woman who thinks he's exaggerating when he's celebrating the
beauty and power of the Gospel. He's not looking for a woman who can
cook but cannot raise their kids in the fear of God. He's not looking
for a woman who loves his physical looks but is disgusted or cannot bear
the real man that he is.
A
godlyman is looking for a woman who is humble (proverbs 11:16),
hardworking, peaceful and joyful. A woman who doesn't define herself by
her outward adornments or her career achievements (proverbs 31:10), she
is wise, and submits to the authority of her husabnd (Titus 2:4-5). A
godly man is looking for a woman who prays with and for him, who is
unashamed of
the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 16:3). He is looking for a woman who is
comfortable in her own skin and who doesn't compete with other women. He
is looking for a woman who understands him and his pursuits in life. He
is looking for a woman who's love for him will stand the test of time
(selfless love).
Dear sisters, forget about looking for a godly man because he'll find you under the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit. Focus more on becoming a godly woman and let God be all that you desire and seek. Your purpose as a co-laborer with Christ in the Ministry of reconciliation has the capacity to affect the body of Christ. When you become stable in your relationship with God, you will be presented by Jesus to your dear godly man. Never forget that He knows our deepest thoughts, desires, fears etc and He knows whom to join us with in marriage.
You're Blessed in Jesus Name!!!
