“Unforgiveness is like holding hot coal
in your hand and hoping to through it on another,” Anonymous. I believe it’s
true, because before you finally throw it at the other person you will be more
hurt than the other. In other words harboring unforgiveness hurts you more than
the person you hold in your heart. You may have that grudge against the other
person meanwhile they have nothing against you and so they are living freely
and enjoying life to the fullest and you are hurting. It’s hard most times to
forgive some people because of what they have subjected you to. Some people
have insulted, beaten, violated, and cursed you. They have reduced you to an
animal by the way they treat you, some have reduced you to a maid and they
don’t care. You have become someone’s punching bag and your heart is bleeding
with pain, fear, hate, bitterness inter alia. All you want to do is destroy
them, revenge on them or their children, but what about you? Will it change
what you are feeling? Will it bring you joy to see them ruined and begging for
mercy? No it won’t! You will hurt even more, that I can assure you. Some people
say “I will forgive but I will never forget”. To be honest with you, forgiving
is forgetting, one does not go without the other. When you forgive you don’t
remember.
The Bible says “their sins, I shall
remember no more”. That was God speaking and if you acknowledge and believe you
have the mind of Christ then there’s nothing unpardonable. When you say things
like “I have forgiven you but…” it means it’s just a matter of words; you are
still bitter within. When you forgive and when the person does anything and you
remind them of the sin they committed against you, you haven’t forgiven the
person. You don’t just wake up and say you have forgiven someone who had hurt
you. PRAY ABOUT IT. We have to
pray for the grace to forgive those who have hurt us, it is as difficult as you
can think but it’s not impossible. Cry as much as you can but LET
GO AND LET GOD. Before Jacob met Esau after their
bitter separation, he prayed to God and God showed him favor and Esau forgave
him (Genesis 32 & 33). Time alonside prayer heals some people’s wounds but for some, they want to keep holding unto the pain. Pray aloud and declare to yourself that your divine nature (God’s
Spirit in you) is not the nature for hatred but love and forgiveness. Pray for
the wellbeing of the person who had hurt you because those you sincerely pray
for, you don’t criticize (1 Peter 4: 8, 11). When you are alone tell yourself
aloud that you have forgiven the person. Say it as many times as you can even
if you burst into tears. The enemy is using what you feel against you by
manipulating your thoughts. The enemy is giving you the impression that crimes
as grave as those should be punished severely and it makes you want to fight to
the last drop of your blood. Warring against your offenders will only hurt you
more and your time, energy and maybe resources will go to waste.
Pray, bare your soul to
the Lord, for only through Him can you find healing. He made your heart and
only Him can restore you. Jesus used the parable of the shrewd employee to show
what unforgiveness can do. When you hurt others and apologize, they forgive you
but when others hurt you, you seek revenge on them. People may not always pay
for their deeds but be rest assured that God has a way of showing His might in
their lives. Don’t always try to magnify the crimes so that it will be worth
punishment, LEAVE IT TO GOD, you were hurt,
God knows, you felt like trash, God knows and that is why He has opened His arms for you to
come to Him and find solace. The Holy Spirit your comforter lives in you and is
always with you. Cast all you cares on Jesus not some (Matthew 11:28, 1 Peter
5:7). Free yourself in worship, declare His good works in your life and receive
His healing to your soul.
Dear beloved in the Lord, unforgiveness
hurts more than forgiveness. Let God have His revenge on whomever that has hurt
you. Love like Christ. God holds no sin against us and whatever that hurt you,
dwells in your past and God’s mercies are new each day, enjoy His love and
peace. It is the will of God that you live in peace, love, joy etc. When the
veil was torn it was to declare you worthy to come before the Father and lay
whatever burden you have and He will give you rest.
Pray
at this moment for the Holy Spirit to reveal to you things that people have
done to you that you are still grudging against them.
Ask
the Holy Spirit to heal your heart, mind, soul and body from the pain of that
grudge.
Ask
the Holy Spirit to purge you of unforgiveness and to establish you in love and
forgiveness.
Be
Blessed In Jesus Name!!!
